The 55th annual meeting will take place in San Diego at the Grand Del Mar Resort.
The dates are SUNDAY, July 29 through Friday, August 3, 2012. Please note the shifted days from our usual meeting schedule. We'll be posting information on this webpage as it becomes available. We strongly encourage members to make their hotel reservations early since our conference is during the racing season at the Del Mar race track... As soon as we get confirmation that our room block is in the hotel's reservations system, we'll put out the word.

Please refer to the information below about AESC recreational events for details. You may complete the registration form posted here in a "fillable" PDF format. Please PRINT and either fax or scan/email to the AESC office. (We have found that for some people, saving the form to a different name and sending that file as an attachment results in a blank form.)
Please note! The days of the 2012 meeting are shifted slightly. This year, we start on Sunday, July 29 with the welcoming reception, and we finish on Thursday evening, August 2 with the Baptismo Emeritus. No events are planned for Friday, so you can plan your departures for that day.

Barbie Haynes has selected Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resiliance and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand as this year's Spouse Book Club choice.
From Laura Hillenbrand, the bestselling author of Seabiscuit, comes Unbroken, the inspiring true story of a man who lived through a series of catastrophes almost too incredible to be believed. In evocative, immediate descriptions, Hillenbrand unfurls the story of Louie Zamperini--a juvenile delinquent-turned-Olympic runner-turned-Army hero. During a routine search mission over the Pacific, Louie’s plane crashed into the ocean, and what happened to him over the next three years of his life is a story that will keep you glued to the pages, eagerly awaiting the next turn in the story and fearing it at the same time. You’ll cheer for the man who somehow maintained his selfhood and humanity despite the monumental degradations he suffered, and you’ll want to share this book with everyone you know. --Juliet Disparte
New Information!
Getting Around in San Diego
Here are a few resources to help once you arrive in San Deigo. (Also check out the "Activities in the Area" section at the bottom of this web page.) The Grand Del Mar Resort is about 22 miles north of the San Diego airport, approximately 30 minutes by car on the I-5 freeway. While most members probably will rent a car to use during their stay in Southern California, there are some other options . . . see links below. Please note that the resort is not in the downtown area, so a car certainly will add to the convenience factor.
As the meeting date approaches, we will be adding information about on-site activites and other recreational opportunities. In the meantime, here are a few resources:
We strongly encourage members to make their reservations as early as possible! The Club conference takes place during the Del Mar Racetrack season, so it is expected that the hotel will be completely sold lout during the dates of our meeting. In order to assure your satisfaction, booking well in advance will be a big plus.
