The success of the AESC and its meetings are a direct result of the participation of the members. Our sessions are very interactive; discussion, challenges to thinking and questions are strongly encouraged. Be thinking about lectures, interesting cases, or mini-symposiums you would like to present! As a reminder, talks will be seven minutes in length with eight minutes set aside for discussion. Panel discussions or symposia can be longer... be sure to discuss with the program chair before submitting.

Spouse Book ClubAmy Welcome has selected a poignant story for this year's Book Club -- "When Breath Becomes Air" by Paul Kalanithi. From the Amazon.com review: When Breath Becomes Air is a powerful look at a stage IV lung cancer diagnosis through the eyes of a neurosurgeon. When Paul Kalanithi is given his diagnosis he is forced to see this disease, and the process of being sick, as a patient rather than a doctor--the result of his experience is not just a look at what living is and how it works from a scientific perspective, but the ins and outs of what makes life matter. This heart-wrenching book will capture you from page one and still have you thinking long after the final sentence. Other Useful Stuff
