AESC Recreational Activities
61st Annual Meeting - 2018


We have arranged a number of group activities planned for you and your family during the AESC's 61st Annual Meeting at the Montage Resort in Deer Valley, Utah.  Additional registration for these events is necessary since there are extra costs associated with them.  In addition, we have listed a number of options that you can enjoy on your own or with friends from the Club.  For these "do it yourself" activities, we have provided basic information and vendor contacts.

Our additional activities are sold out for pre-registration.  If you find your plans changing and want to see if there's space for certain events, check with Kathy Paul at the registration area at the meeting.  Some events are completely sold out:  Horseback Riding (Wednesday) and the ATV Off-road Adventure (Saturday).  The Club discount tickets at the Olympic Park are no longer available; however, you can purchase full-price tickets at the park if you wish.

Wednesday, August 1st

Spouse Activities
9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Spouse Book Club -- Gather immediately after the Family Breakfast.  We'll be discussing "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro.  CLICK HERE to view on Amazon.  In addition, we will have the Montage concierge visit with us to highlight the hotel amenities and things to do in the area.
Younger Kids Outing
(age 4 - 9)
9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Paintbox Nature Scavenger Hunt -- The kids will make a collage from clay and items found exploring around the hotel (supervised).  Snack included.
$60 per child
Older Kids Outing
(age 8 and up)
9:45 - 11:15 a.m.
Horseback Riding - Boulder Mountain Ranch... ride the Aspen Trail.
The Club will arrange for transportation to the ranch and back to the hotel.
$75 per rider (includes tax and gratuity)

Utah Olympic Park 
Fun for the whole family

The park is open until 6 p.m.
No charge for entry or museum

 

There are a number of activities to captivate your Olympic Spirit . . .
2:00 p.m. - Tour the Olympic Venue; $12/adults; $7 kids 12 & under
Consider purchasing a "Gold Pass" -- our discounted price:
     $64 adults; $43 kids 12 & under
     Unlimited access to extreme tubing, extreme zip, drop tower and more
     Please review age and weight requirements for various activities
Take the ride of your life on the Olympic Bobsled Run
    Regular price - $75; Gold Pass holders - $35 (per run)
    Riders must be at least 13 years of age and at least 100 lbs

Please note!  So we can get the discounted ticket prices at the Olympic Park, our order must be submitted one week in advance.  Thus, the Club will be unable to accommodate any Olympic Park discounted ticket requests after Tuesday, July 24.

You can visit the Utah Olympic Park and browse through the museum at no charge, even if you don't want to do the activities take the guided tour

Thursday, August 2nd
AESC Tennis Tournament
1:30 - 4:00 p.m.
The Club's annual round robin tennis tournament has become a popular outing on the courts.  This year, we'll be playing at the "Park City MARC" tennis facility.  $20 per player fee includes tennis balls, beverages.
Rental racquets will be available
Friday, August 3rd

AESC Golf Outing

    $200 per player - includes greens fees and forecaddy
    First tee time is 1:48 p.m.

Utah Symphony - 
Deer Valley Music Festival
7:30 p.m. concert
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The '70s vs. The '80s - 
Take a trip back to your favorite decade with conductor Edwin Outwater and vocalist Capathia Jenkins, who will both bring new excitement and energy to your favorite hits by George Michael, Whitney Houston, Patty LaBelle, and more!  Deer Valley Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.
    Reserved seats - $77 each (limited number) Sold Out
    Lawn seating - $32 each
We are arranging for boxed lunch meals; members will be able to order these at the AESC registration desk during the meeting

Saturday, August 4th
Off-Road Mountain 
ATV Adventure
Morning - 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Lofty Peaks Adventures will outfit you with an ATV for an incredible off-road experience exploring trails through forests, meadows, and atop mountain peaks.  4-seat and 2-seat ATVs will get you to the back country and return.
     $90 per person (including gas and liability coverage)
     Kids must be age 5 and over;
     Drivers must be licensed and at least age 18

Other Independent Things To Do in the Park City Area on Your Own

Following are some additional recreational options in the Park City area.  The AESC is not arranging any sort of groups for these alternatives, but here are some ideas and contact information.

Fly Fishing

Utah is world-famous for the blue ribbon fly fishing offered up along the Provo, Green and Weber rivers.  Plan to spend about 4-5 for fly fishing in the Wasatch Mountains.  There are several outfitters in the Park City area... one is Park City Anglers.  Phone:  435-658-3474.  Compass Sports at the Montage also may have some recommendations.  Call guest relations at: (435) 604-1700

Mountain Biking and Hiking

Park City Mountain and 
Main Street Park City

Summertime in Park City comes alive at Park City Mountain.  There are tons of activities from an alpine slide and coaster to zip lines, miniature golf and much more.  CLICK HERE for information.

Main Street is the center of historic Park City --  home to over 200 unique businesses and the trailhead to your mountain town adventure. Visitors can shop among over 100 independent boutiques, dine at 50 one-of-a-kind restaurants, and much more!

Hiking at Deer Valley

Take in grand views of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains as you enjoy a leisurely chairlift ride up Silver Lake Express from the base, Sterling Express at mid-mountain or Ruby Express at Empire Canyon. At the top, stretch your legs and explore one of the many hiking trails that wander through Deer Valley. Or simply enjoy the fresh, alpine air at the top before re-boarding the chairlift for your ride back down. Those hiking up the mountain can enjoy a complimentary chairlift ride down.  DETAILS HERE

Sundance

Sundance, Utah, is Robert Redford's famous artists colony.  It's a great place for hikes, zipline fun, and a wide range of artistic options.
