Explore Whistler and the Olympic Venue!

Not many locations can compete with the extraordinary opportunities to be found in Whistler, British Columbia, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.  Explore the mountains on the Peak to Peak Gondola, experience the excitement of white water rafting or a more tame canoe trip. biking, brave the ziplines and, of course, golf!

Details for Club-sponsored events, as well as some other options you can enjoy on your own, appear below.  Additional registration fees for Club-sponsored events are necessary since there are extra costs associated with those activities.  The online registration form and a paper (PDF) form also appear below, as well as the separate golf-sign-up form..  

Please be sure to sign up as soon as possible for the group activities since the "official" activities have limited space.  Thank you, and have a great time!

   REGISTRATION IS NOW AVAILABLE! 

Based on our vendor requirements, please respond no later than July 12.  Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate on-site activity registrations.

The activities registration form is in PDF format due to the complexity of this year's events.  You will see a place to enter the number of individuals participating . . . the form will automatically calculate the cost for each event, and it will calculate a grand total.  Make sure you enter your payment information on the second page, and then send both pages to the  AESC office by email, by fax or by regular mail.  NOTE:  There is a separate form for the golf times.... "ad hoc" outings on Monday and Tuesday, and he "official" outing on Thursday.

After we receive your activities registration, we will send you an email confirmation along with an electronic form that collects some additional information we need for certain events.  

All prices listed are in US Dollars.

Monday, July 27

Spouse Book Club

9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

No charge for this event

Gather immediately after the Family Breakfast.  Get together with other Club spouses to renew old friendships and make new ones.  This year's selection is The Forest Lover by Susan Vreeland

Please register for this event so we can get a rough headcount...  but there's no charge.  

Kids Kamp
Geared for younger kids age 4 through 8
9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

$30 per participant 

This supervised event is for kids of all ages, but primarily younger children. Gather at the family breakfast.  We will have a Cultural Ambassador from the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre as our guide for the event.  The kids will be treated to stories and crafts making for a fun and educational morning.

Kids Valley Trail Bike Excursion

Teenager excursion ages 8 and older

Depart hotel at 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

 $35 per participant

We'll be heading out from Whistler Village to Lost Lake for a fun and scenic guided bike ride... including a stop for ice cream.  Note . . . we'll need the height and weight for each rider to match up bike sizes.

Whistler/Blackcomb Summer Happening -- Peak 2 Peak Gondola

The Peak 2 Peak Gondola in Whistler, British Columbia, is a record-breaking, 4.4-km (2.7-mile) aerial lift connecting Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. It holds the world record for the highest lift above the valley floor (436 meters or 1,427 feet) and features a stunning 11-minute, 360-degree journey over ancient glaciers and coastal rainforests  Start your adventure on the Blackcomb Gondola just outside the "back door" of the Fairmont.  Once on the mountain, you can also use your ticket to access the nearby Cloudraker Skybridge on Whistler Mountain, a high-altitude suspension bridge offering dramatic views

Tuesday, July 28

Pickle Ball Tournament

$35 per player

1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

We're competing on the pickle ball court again this year.  Gather at the Whistler Racquet Club (just a short hop from the hotel).  If you have your own paddle, please plan to bring it.  The Club has some sets of paddles to share for those who don't have their own.  The registration fee covers the costs of balls, on-court beverages and any necessary paddles.  We'll likely take the hotel shuttle bus over to the racquet club, but details will be forthcoming.

Zipline Ecotour

Afternoon departures, beginning at 12:40

Eagle - Adult (13+) - $130; Child (6-12) $108

Fly through the trees and over the valley as you explore this spectacular course!   WATCHI THIS VIDEO  All of the tours will be in groups of 10 with three departures for each tour.  

Ziptrek is an outdoor adventure activity and operates in all weather conditions  Closed toed footwear is required.  All tours include stair climbing and trail walking

Eagle Tour -- 5 ZIPLINES, 4 TREETOP BRIDGES, 2.5 - 3 HOURS  Minimum age is 6, minimum weight is 75 lbs   First departure is at 12:50 p.m.

Bear Tour-- 4 ZIPLINES, 4 TREETOP BRIDGES, 2 - 2.5 HOURS  Minimum age is 6, minimum weight is 65 lbs, however, we can have up to 2 children per tour under 65 lbs if they go tandem with a guide.  First departure is at 1:40 p.m.  This is a perfect option for families and first-timers.

Sasquatch -- 1 MONSTER ZIPLINE, STELLAR VIEWS, 1.5 HOURS  Minimum age is 10, minimum weight is 75 lbs  This is not for the faint of heart!  Length: +2 kms (7,000 ft); Speeds: Well over 100 kmh (+62 mph); Heights: At times, over 183 m (600 ft) above ground.    First departure is at 12:40 p.m.

White Water Rafting

Green River (class 2 and 3)

Transportation provided from and to the Fairmong

Green River -- Take on the glacial Green River, Whistler’s only whitewater rafting experience offering class 2 and class 3 rapids. Suited for anyone aged 10 and older! Located only 15 minutes north of Whistler Village.  this is a 2 1/2 hour excursion.  NOTE - Minimum age is 10 and minimum weight is 90 lbs.

 
Cheakamus Splash is a wonderful family-friendly rafting trip with playful rapids, spectacular scenery, and plenty of laughter—ideal for all ages 5+. Float down the glacier-fed Cheakamus River through majestic old-growth forests, spotting wildlife, birds, and waterfalls while enjoying breathtaking views of British Columbia’s Coast Mountains. Discover the intriguing history of the Squamish First Nations as you journey.  Enjoy friendly water fights, cool off with a dip in crystal-clear, jade-colored waters, and watch out for the playful Splash Monster!  End your adventure at our scenic rafting base in Squamish Valley,  NOTE:  minimum age is 5; minimum weight is 50 lbs.

AESC Annual Golf Outing

Mountain Golf at its Finest!  This is the "official" Club annual golf outing.  Set amidst running creeks, mirrored ponds, and towering Douglas fir, Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course is sculpted by nature itself. Sweeping elevation changes of more than 400 feet create an impressive British Columbia golf experience.  A fun course for players of all levels, this Robert Trent Jones, Jr. masterpiece opened in 1993 and offers a par 72, 18-hole Audubon-certified course.

"Not Golf" Event -- River of Golden Dreams - Kayak & Canoe

1st departure 9:00 a.m.
2nd departure 9:45 a.m.

Adults (12 and older) - $140
Children (3 - 11) -- $70

 

You can't say you've been to Whistler without paddling the River of Golden Dreams.  Hop in a canoe or single kayak and explore the lush, old growth forest and wildflower-lined banks, as well as stunning snow-capped mountain vistas. With epic views around every bend, this is adventure you will tell your friends about!

Includes: Transportation from and back to the Fairmont; guide(s), lifejacket, paddle, shuttle back from river end. We have high quality equipment and the best trained guides in Whistler.

 

Other Independent Things To Do in the Area

Here are a few additional options if you're looking for something to do in the area around Whistler area.  The Club will not be organizing excursions to any of these locations... but feel free to buddy up with other Club members if you wish and enjoy!
